Brenda Joy (Applegate) Stringer

Brenda Joy Stringer, 69, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday October 10, 2019 in St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She worked at H&R Block for over 25 years where she was not only a tax preparer but taught numerous courses and was a mentor to many new tax preparers. She was born March 26, 1950 in Greencastle to Lawrence Applegate and Norma Jean (Ellis) Applegate. Brenda is survived by her daughter, Mercedes Eden (Chris) of Sheridan, Indiana; son, Geoffrey Stringer (girlfriend Marci Hartwig) of Carleton, Michigan; grandchildren, Alexis Stringer, Andrew Eden, Wyatt Eden, and Kent Eden; father-in-law, Clyde Stringer, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Samantha Stringer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Mary Jane Applegate and her husband, whom she married Friday February 13, 1970, Clyde Stringer, Jr and he died May 27, 2016. Brenda and Clyde lived in Europe, mostly Germany, for several years before returning to Terre Haute to start their family. She loved camping and sitting around a campfire with friends and she passed that love of camping on to her children and grandchildren. She was a life-long member of NCHA-FCRV. She was a fantastic grandma and loved her grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday October 14, 2019 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm in Samaritan Funeral Home with graveside services on Tuesday October 15, 2019 in Stilesville Cemetery at 2:00 pm with Pastor Tim Williams officiating.
