David P. Jewell, 62, formerly of Paris, Illinois passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:04 pm EST at Southwood Nursing Home in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Born October 13, 1956, in Paris, IL, Dave was the son of Bunny and Claudine (Wolfe) Jewell.
Dave was a retired truck driver, hauling everything from grain and potatoes to electronics. He enjoyed driving, country music, collecting eagles and Zippo lighters, and watching westerns and war movies. He will be remembered for his patriotism, love and dedication to his family and friends, and his love for goats, cats, and other animals.
Dave is survived by two brothers, Rex (Nancy) Jewell and Dara (Lou) Jewell, one sister Vicky Jewell (George Wilson) all of Paris; his “favorite” niece Michaelena Jewell of Charleston, IL; six nephews, two nieces, and several great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two aunts, Martha (Jewell) Daughtery and Carolyn (Jewell) Smedley; a host of cousins, and his special friend G. Louise “Pinky” Hayes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, and several aunts and uncles.
Friends and family may call from 4-7pm CST on Thursday, May 23rd at the Paris Presbyterian Church, 241 W. Court St. in Paris, IL. Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 24th at Oak Grove Cemetery outside of Paris at 10:30am CST. Dave’s niece Michaelena will give the eulogy. A memorial dinner will follow at the Paris Presbyterian Church.
