After a hard fight with COPD Walter Junior Buchanan Jr. AKA: Jay, passed away on May 30, 2019 in Exceptional Living Center in Brazil at the age of 66. He was born August 12, 1953 in Vigo County to Walter and Ruth Pope Buchanan. Jay spent most of his life driving truck. He enjoyed playing a bass guitar and playing in his band, building race cars and racing them as well, hunting and fishing. Jay served in the Army in the early 70’s.
He is survived by four sons, Kyle Harden (Tina), Troy Harden (Tammy), Clayton Buchanan (Candace) and Richard Buchanan, one daughter Patricia Bowden (John), twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren with two on the way, and two brothers Jim Buchanan and Charlie Buchanan as well as several nieces and nephews and three special friends.
Jay is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Tina Buchanan White and Barb Buchanan Ritter, and grandson Blithe Wilkins.
Jay has requested to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at the Craig Park 2013 West Co Road 950 N, Brazil, Indiana on June 9, 2019 from 1pm to 5pm. The family would like to thank the staff of Exceptional Living Center and the staff of Kindred Hospice of Terre Haute. Samaritan Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
