Obituary

Alice Ann Kress Prothero was born May 15, 1957, in Terre Haute, IN, where she lived her entire life. She is preceded in death by parents, Henry and Helen Kress, and siblings Sue Hawkins and Joseph (Tony) Kress. She is survived by her husband of 49 years Jeffrey Prothero, children Jessica (Adam) Rusnak, Steven (Casey) Prothero, Joshua Prothero, and Kevin Prothero (Sarah Pluckebaum), and grandchildren Sadie, Gwendolyn, Owen, Elise, Leo, Evelyn, Adaline, and Garrett.

Alice passed while bravely battling an extremely rare and aggressive cancer, showing her signature perseverance through adversity, even in this final fight. She worked hard in her profession and she was a paragon. She was an inspiration for future generations in her family and the consummate hostess for anyone visiting their home. Alice embraced the role of loving caregiver and fierce advocate for Josh while raising three other children and serving as a pillar for her extended family and friends. She was a model mother not only to her own children, but to many others as well. These connections left indelible ripples that will last for generations. And she thoroughly enjoyed being a doting grandmother. In the words of her adoring husband, Alice was remarkable.

Funeral Mass to be held Friday September 18th at 11:00 am at St. Joseph University Parish, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:00-4:00 pm at The Sycamore Farm. Please join us to celebrate her; she truly welcomed all. Otherwise, reflect over a mug of tea in her memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice’s memory can be made to Happiness Bag Inc. (www.happinessbag.org/).
