Alva Lyn Light, born January 8, 1951 in Clay City, Indiana, and passed away on June 25 , 2023 at home in Terre Haute, IN surrounded by family.

Alvie was the second of five children of Wilbur and Mary Lou Light. Alvie married Selestia (Moody) Light on February 23, 1973 and welcomed their daughter Kari in 1975. Alvie worked a number of jobs over the years including Quicker-Made factory, truck driver, and maintenance for the Terre Haute Police Department. Alvie's greatest job was being a grandfather to his two grandchildren. Alvie was known for his sense of humor and constant teasing.

Alvie is survived by his wife, Selestia, his daughter, Kari, and son-in-law Bill Gardner of Wiggins, Mississippi. He's also survived by his two grandchildren, Karissa Baumgartner and Dakota Hatton as well as a grandson-in-law, Alec Baumgartner. He's also survived by his siblings, Gary Light and Connie (Rick) Kennedy. He's also survived by much of the Moody family, including Fred Moody, Gilda (Chuck) Atterson, John (Pam) Moody, Lonnie (Wanda), and Mickey Moody. He is also survived by a special niece and nephew, Christina Yancy and Scott Moody

He's preceded in death by his brothers Randy and Fred Light, sisters-in-law, Marketa Moody, Jean Moody, and Patsy Light, and his three angel children Kevin Lee, Amber Dawn, and Misty Marie.

Visitation will be Friday June 30, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm in Samaritan Funeral Home with funeral services starting at 5:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor john Moody officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.samaritanfunerals.com
