Barbara J. Chris, 87, of Terre Haute passed away Friday January 22, 2016 at 11:57 pm in Union Hospital. Barbara was born December 19, 1928 in Terre Haute to Raymond Phillips and Katherine (Miller) Phillips. She is survived by; cousin and loving caregiver, Sally Russell; other cousins, Sally Lowery, Virginia Smith, Tina Ryan Chadwick, Cindy Durham, Pat Ryan, Matthew Sandlin, Jennifer Sewell and other cousins, friends, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband George R. Chris who died November 14, 2001. Barbara attended the Terre Haute Bible Center for many years and she enjoyed the many years she lived at Brownstone Manor and the great friends she made there. As per Barbara's request, cremation has been selected with private family burial at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. Samaritan Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave. is in charge of arrangements.
