Besty Sue Waters, 76, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 9, 2024. She was born on July 13, 1947, to Robert and Nadine (Salem) Seidel.

She graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in June 1965, and she was married in August 1965.

Betsy had many careers throughout her life, beginning in auditing and bookkeeping at Terre Haute First National Bank. She worked for the United Way and the Terre Haute Action Track in the 1970s. Joining her mother-in-law in 1975, Betsy learned to sew drapes and valances for many interior decorators. After 14 years, Betsy became the sole seamstress at Indiana State University Drapery Shop where she enjoyed working for 18 years.

Betsy was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived with her mother-in-law and cared for her through 12 years of cancer treatments. She also lived with and cared for her parents at the end of their lives. Betsy was always helping her children and grandchildren and shared her home with her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends all through their lives.

Betsy is survived by her three children Larry Waters (Jill), Lori Waters, and Libby Waters; five grandchildren Larae Walker (Kyle), Shelby Pair (George), Morgan Parker, Adam Waters, and William Luther; five great-grandchildren Kyleigh Walker, George Pair III, Gemma Pair, Arya Hazen, and Ayden Blundell; and blessed with their care and support.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Nadine (Salem) Seidel, grandparents Herman and Janette (Heckelsburg) Seidel and Arthur and Mabel (Barbee) Salem, and her brother-in-law Don Jones.

It was Betsy's wishes to be cremated, and Samaritan Funeral Home will be taking care of her wishes. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 1 pm to 3 pm at Cross Lane Community Church located at 2204 Lafayette Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47805.
