Bonita K. Eldred, 75, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday June 29, 2023 in Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She retired from the Maintenance Department at the Vigo County Courthouse. Bonita was born July 8, 1947 in Terre Haute to Harold "Buck" and Catherine (Edmonson) Krone. She is survived by daughters, Michelle Eldred (daughter-in-law, Tommie Cain) and Leslie Eldred; step-children, Beth Eldred, Andrea, Shelia, Charles Miller, and Andrew Miller; sisters, Barbara McKinney, Brenda Taylor, and Beverlea Day; grandchildren, Skyler Eldred and Ben Eldred; companion, Bertis Robinson; several nieces and nephews and father of her children, John Eldred. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles Miller, who died December 13, 2014. Bonita was a life-time member of the VFW Post #972 Auxiliary and the American Legion Post #104 Auxiliary, and she was also a member of the Eagles Lodge. Bonita loved being a mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was also a mother figure to many, offering them a home, advice, and a shoulder to cry on. She was loved by everyone who knew her. Bonita knew how to have a great time and to live life to the fullest. Her laughter was contagious. She is an inspiration to all who knew her. Visitation will be Friday July 7, 2023 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in Samaritan Funeral Home with funeral services starting at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
