Brent
Washburn
September 12, 1958 – March 11, 2024
The mold was broken when Brent Washburn was born in Vandalia, Illinois on September 12, 1958, to Wayne and Helena Washburn (Mills). Shortly after his birth, Brent would begin his duties in pestering his older sister, Crystal (Cramer). A job that even into adulthood he was dedicated to.
When Brent was in elementary school, his father moved their family to Terre Haute, specifically Terre Town. He would share stories of playing pickup games with various kids in the neighborhood.
In high school, Brent would go on to letter as a three-sport athlete. He played football, wrestling, and tennis. His friends rejoiced in finding pictures of him in his singlet. After high school, Brent would continue his education at Ivy Tech Community College where he received an associate's degree in Printing Technology. He would go on to work at Moore-Langen and Impressions. After his time as a printer, Brent became an over-the-road truck driver. He later retired from Sherwin-Williams. Brent worked long, hard weeks as a truck driver. He did so to provide for his family; one of his most admirable traits.
In 1989, Brent married his wife, Darla (Stewart). They would go on to have two kids. Devin Lane was born in 1990. Even though he was born a toe-head like his mother, Devin and Brent were inseparable. Brent showed his love through building an FXSTC for his boy. In 1995, Aubrey Kay was born. Much to his delight, Aubrey was born with dark hair and big brown eyes. Brent would often tell people, "she's cute as a bell, she looks just like me."
In his later life, Brent became a proud grandpa aka Bop Bop to Jovi Lane and Jagger Kai. His grandkids brought him immense joy. He instilled an insatiable love of Popsicles in the two. When Jovi would grab Popsicles for Bop Bop and herself he shamelessly would take the better of the two flavors.
Outside of family, Brent's greatest love was riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was a proud and dedicated member of the Cloven Hoofs Motorcycle Club. He joined the club in 1977. During his time as a Hoof, he held the title of president intermittently. Brent was a born leader and showed this throughout his life, especially during his time in the club. On many occasions, he lent a helping hand to brothers in need.
Another special trait of Brent's was his quick wit. He would often say, "I write my own material." He loved teasing people, and no joke was below him. He could dish it out, and if you could take it and give it back, he liked you even more for your braveness.
Brent was a great man. He was loyal to the core and last of a dying breed. He will be truly and deeply missed.
