Carolyn Jones Coon, 92, of Naples, FL, died on Jan. 27th, 2018, in Gulf Coast Hospital, Ft. Myers, FL.  She was born in Terre Haute, IN on Dec. 14, 1925.  She received a bachelor's & master's degree from Indiana State University.  Carolyn taught English at Columbus HS, Lew Wallace HS in Gary, IN, and was a guidance counselor at Merrillville HS before retiring to Naples.  She was a member of the Naples Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Coon, Jr. of Kokomo, IN, parents Fern and Walter Jones of Terre Haute, and step-grandson Andrew Rice, of Indianapolis.  She is survived by daughter Michele Rice (Terry) of Ft. Myers, FL, son Michael Coon (Susan) of Miami, FL, sister Donita Laughlin (George) of New Johnsonville, TN, granddaughters Lindsay and Melissa Coon, step-granddaughter Sarah Rice, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Sat. 2/3 with viewing 11:00-1:00, funeral 1:00-2:00 at Samaritan Funeral Home, burial to follow at Highland Lawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Humane Society Naples, hsnaples.org.
