Charles "Butch" Thomas
Sutton
October 2, 1953 – April 5, 2025
Charles "Butch" Thomas Sutton passed away on April 5, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 2, 1953 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana to Henry F. Sutton and LaVerne (Tyler) Sutton.
Butch loved playing pool, fishing, being a Kansas City BBQ Judge and listening to old hymns on YouTube. He worked at Verizon Internet and retired from Sylvania as a Lightning Technical Specialist. He served in the Indiana Air National Guard from December 1971 through December 1977.
Butch is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 42 years Sherrie (Nash) Sutton; son, Robert Sutton; daughter Lisa Marie Sutton; longtime family friend, like a son Jonathan Pack; grandchildren Dianna Pritchett (Trent), Anthony Spears (Sienna), Brian Sutton, and Adrian Morey; great-grandchildren Amari, Royce, Isabelle and Lorelei, and many other loving family members, especially his great niece Kendellynn Nash.
Butch's wishes were to be cremated, so there will have a Celebration of Life at the Prairieton United Methodist Church, 3720 W Kennett Dr., Prairieton, IN 47870, on Saturday April 26, 2025 at 1 pm. We will be having remarks from Pastor Mark Zerkel and the family. Following that, American Legion Post 104 will have a memorial service. We will be serving lunch after the service. If you would like to contribute, please contact Brenda "BJ" Voll at 812-631-8119.
Many people have asked how they can help. It is a difficult time both emotionally and financially for Sherrie, so anything helps. Gift cards to Kroger, Meijer's, Aldi's, Walmart, etc. or a contribution towards funeral expenses would be immensely appreciated. Financial contributions are not expected-if your preference is in celebrating Butch's life and sharing your memories, those mean more than anything.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of the Wabash Valley for their care, compassion, and Butch's beautiful military pinning ceremony. Cremation was entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.samaritanfunerals.com.
