Charles Bernard "Chuck" Schnurpel, 87, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023. Chuck was born September 21, 1935, in Springfield, Illinois to Charles and Ruth Schnurpel. When he was young, Chuck's parents moved the family to Clay County, Indiana, where he went on to graduate from Brazil Senior High School in 1953. Following graduation, Chuck enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served in Vietnam and was stationed in several places including France, Oklahoma, California, and Germany. In 1980, after 26 years of service, Chuck retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant before returning to Indiana, where he worked for the Terre Haute Parks and Recreation Department and the Terre Haute Wastewater Treatment Plant. In retirement Chuck enjoyed travelling with Carol, spending summers in Alaska and winters at the "Tip O'Texas" in Parr, Texas.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Schnurpel; his children - Charles Schnurpel (Nancy), Steven Schnurpel (Diana), Kendall Schnurpel (Jami), and stepchildren, Barbara Robbins (Chuck), and William Yates (Tracy); 22 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ruth; siblings Russell (Sarah), Shirley, Barbara (Harold); James (Mary Lou); son Kevin Little, and stepdaughter Debra Wardlow (Michael).

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Samaritan Funeral Home (2425 Wabash, Terre Haute) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Services will begin at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m.
