Connie June Taylor (Mitchell), 83, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, under the compassionate care of hospice while residing at Springhill Nursing Home, where she had resided for the past six years.  

Connie was born on January 4, 1943, in Linton, Indiana, to Arlie W. Mitchell and Ruth A. (Hinkle) Mitchell of Jasonville, Indiana.  

She was united in marriage to Robert Taylor.  Throughout her life, Connie was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  

She is survived by her two sons, Arlie Joe Burris of Terre Haute, Indiana, and John B. Young Jr. and his wife Amber, of Terre Haute, Indiana.  She also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren: Arlene Burris; Megan Gard (Jake); Shelby Daugherty (Chance); Carley Cornwell (Ethan); Ian Young; Leilani Young; and Rebekah Young.  Connie was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother, Max Mitchell and her sister, Patty (Mitchell) Lewis along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.  

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Arlie W. and Ruth A. Mitchell; her brothers, Dale Mitchell and Arlie Mitchell Jr.; her sister, Nancy, as well as her husband Robert.

Over the course of her life, Connie worked in manufacturing, retail, home health care, waitressing, and house cleaning, sometimes holding multiple jobs at the same time in order to support her family.  

Connie found happiness in life's simple pleasures.  Her hobbies varied throughout her life and included dancing, bowling, tending to her garden, and spending quiet hours reading.

Connie's memory will be honored by all who knew and loved her.  Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many lives she touched throughout her years.

There will be a graveside service Wednesday the 29th at 10 AM in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
