Obituary

Cynthia Elaine Girton, RN,  65, of Terre Haute died Monday, March 12, 2018, after a five year battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Brazil, Indiana to Donald Girton and Rebecca Raab Girton. Cindy was a graduate of Brazil High School, earned her LPN at Ivy Tech, and her RN at Lincoln Trails College. She is survived by her husband, Bryan Zindren, stepchildren;  Geoffrey Zindren of Richmond, VA and Abigail Zindren of Akron, OH, and sister Kathleen Howald (John) of Indianapolis. She is also survived by a niece, Laura Albright (Patrick) of Napa, CA, and nephews Brooks Howald (Lisa) and Carson Howald (Jittra), of Oregon.

Cindy lived life with passion. She was fiercely proud of her chosen profession of nursing. She was an Intensive Care nurse for over 34 years, and is remembered for her knowledge, compassion and sense of humor. She loved to travel, especially loved the seashore, and enjoyed camping. Yet her happiest moments were spent on her own lanai, surrounded by friends, family, and dogs, discussing life over a glass of chardonnay. If you were her friend, you were friends for life.

Cremation was chosen.  Samaritan Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. Online condolences can be made to www.samaritanfunerals.com.

Friends are invited to a celebration of her life at Sonka's Irish Pub on Saturday, March 24th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the eulogy beginning at 1:30.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to your local Humane Society, The McMillan Adult Daycare Center in Terre Haute, or the Alzheimer's research group of your choice. Cindy would like that.
