Obituary

Cynthia L. Handley, age 80, of Terre Haute, Indiana, was born on October 21, 1945 to Elmer Miller and Thelma Benton. As their only daughter, Cynthia was a cherished blessing whose love, kindness, and gentle spirit brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Cynthia was deeply committed to service, fellowship, and community involvement. She was a proud and devoted member of several organizations within the Masonic family, including the Order of the Eastern Star, Heroines of Jericho, Order of the Golden Circle, and the Daughters of Isis. Through these organizations, she formed lasting friendships, supported charitable endeavors, and exemplified the values of compassion, sisterhood, and service. Her dedication and leadership within these organizations left a lasting impact on many lives.

Cynthia’s strong work ethic was evident throughout her career. She began working at Columbia Records, where she helped manufacture the iconic vinyl records that became a treasured part of music history. She later worked in Kroger’s deli and in the cafeteria at Lost Creek School before joining Sam’s Club, where she faithfully served until her retirement.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Cynthia loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Allen Chapel Church. She faithfully served as a Communion Steward and dedicated countless hours to helping others through the church pantry ministry. Her servant’s heart, unwavering faith, and commitment to lifting others up were evident in all that she did.

Cynthia also enjoyed helping others feel confident and beautiful as a Mary Kay Consultant. She took great pride in encouraging women and helping them look and feel their very best, building meaningful relationships along the way.

Above all, Cynthia treasured her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories to be carried on by her beloved husband of 61 years, Leonard Handley; her three daughters, Pamela Prewitt (Joe) of Tucson, Arizona, Lenora King of Orlando, Florida, and Leah Goodge (Jim) of Terre Haute, Indiana; and her beloved brother, Stephen Miller (Beth).

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Phillip Davis (Kayla), Elijah Hallett, Candace Prewitt, Brendan Barksdale, Brelynn Barksdale, and Hananiah Bragg; and her seven great-grandchildren: Braydon, Jeremiah, Myles, Kaeden, Keidran, Kaliyah, and Kianna.

Cynthia will also be lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, sisters of the Masonic family organizations, and dear friends who loved her deeply and will miss her greatly.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her faith, kindness, generosity, and love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind, and her legacy of service, devotion, and grace will live on for generations to come.

Visitation for Cynthia will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Allen Chapel. Funeral service is to beging at 12:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Tonya Burris Mallory with burial to follow at Grandview Cemetery.
