Obituary

Cynthia Gail Kane Alsbrook (Ransom), Age 66, passed away suddenly at her home in Carbon, Indiana on Monday, August 6, 2018. She was born in San Francisco, California to Frederick Dwayne Sr. and Ellen Elizabeth (Nelsson) Ransom. She was a 1970 graduate of Harrison High School, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A free spirit at heart, Cynthia traveled and moved from California to Colorado, to New York, and made many friends and memories along the way. She married Christopher Alsbrook in Arkansas in 2001 and settled down in Indiana in her dream farmhouse. While in Indiana, Cynthia found her true calling as a plant lover and horticulturist. Cynthia's unwavering pursuit of knowledge was made evident by her love of books and history, as well as her recent coursework at Purdue University to become a "Master Gardener" and "Master Naturalist." Cynthia loved to share her knowledge with anyone who would listen, which included volunteering to sit at plant booths at county fairs, and by reaching out to her daughter and her grand-children on Facebook daily.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents Frederick Dwayne Sr. and Ellen Elizabeth (Nelsson) Ransom. She is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Alsbrook, her only-child and cherished daughter, Kristina (Coby) Winkler, her grand-children, Emily Winkler and Anthony Winkler, and her brother Frederick Ransom Jr.  Family and friends of Cynthia are invited to attend a "Celebration of Life" gathering on her beloved property surrounded by her pets, plants and family.  Her "Celebration of Life" is scheduled for Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 3pm- 9pm at her home at 5733 E. County Road 720 S. Carbon, Indiana, 47837.
