David Earl Richards, 81, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Regional Hospital.  He was born August 17, 1936 to Roy M. Richards and Marie Richards.  He attended the Terre Haute Schools and then joined the U.S. Airforce.  After serving several years, he worked the C, E, and I Railroad for 15 years.  He then worked for the Peabody Coal Mine where he spent 22 years.   He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed working on trucks and was great at BBQ-ing.

Davis is survived by one son, David E. Richards Jr. and several grandchildren; Vanessa, Brandy, Danielle, and David III.  He is also survived by two sisters, Betty Washington of Chicago and Anna R. Stewart of Terre Haute and one niece Kara Washington of Chicago.

Visitation will be held at Samaritan Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 with services to follow at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
