David Smithmeyer, 71, of Center Point passed away in his home on June 23, 2019.  He was born in Richmond IN on July 3, 1947 to Kenneth J Smithmeyer and Martha A (Hadley) Smithmeyer.  David is preceded in death by both parents.  He is survived by his wife Lynn Paul and son Jackson Paul.  David was on the Terre Haute Police Department for 35 1/2 years.  He was a member of the F.O.P. David was an avid reader, spent time researching many different things online as well.  He liked golfing and bowling.  David was very laid back. He enjoyed spending time with his family, dogs.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the family to help cover expenses. David's wish was to be cremated with no services.
