Dennis L. Henderson, Sr., 75, of Terre Haute was born June 5, 1941 and succumbed to Alzheimer's surrounded by his children on June 15, 2016. Dennis is the son of Russell and Anna Henderson. He is a retired Terre Haute Policeman and prior to that was an ISU Campus Policeman and had worked as an embalmer for Bedino Funeral Home. Dennis was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of the Eagles and F.O.P. Lodge of Terre Haute. He is survived by his children, Lana Robinson (Rick) of Terre Haute, Dennis Henderson, Jr (Barbie) of Terre Haute, Denise Coakley (Sean) Bedford, IN; grandchildren, Lacey Stout (Ryan), Dylan Robinson, Brodee Cook, Jakob Cook, Erin Henderson, and Anna Coakley; brothers, Jimmy Henderson (Cecile) and Steven Henderson; sisters, Ellen Davis, MaryAnn Chapman (Roy), Donna Reece (Larry), Carrol Hargis, and Linda Boyll (Dwight); brother-in-law, Walt Stringer and friend and former wife, Judy England (Dan) and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sharon Stringer; son, Kenneth Paul Henderson; grandson, Ricky Robinson; brother-in-law, Danny Hargis, and brother-in-law and best friend, Wendell (Chick) Davis. Visitation will be Saturday June 18, 2016 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in Samaritan Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave. with funeral services at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Jay Stigdon officiating and military honors provided by Vigo County Veterans Honor guard. Burial will be at a later date in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Miller's Merry Manor in Sullivan for their loving care and support.
