Donald Lee "Beak" Allen, 84, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022.  He was born November 9, 1937 in Terre Haute to Arthur Charles Allen and Mary Magdalene Lubbenhusen Allen.  Don served his country in both the United States Air Force and Army, retiring after 32 years of service.  He was a very active member in the American Legion Post 104, serving as past Commander, participating in the Honor Guard and he was the longtime kitchen manager.  Beak was also a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League of Terre Haute.  He worked as an iron worker in his younger years helping to build Plaza North and Honey Creek Mall.  Don was an entrepreneur and local business owner over the years.  In the 1970's he proudly ran Ambrosini's, owned Beaker's Donuts, The Old Homestead, and was co-owner of Larbea's.  Beak was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  His family was his greatest joy.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Darlene Allen, his children, Robert "Robbie" Allen, Kara Frye (Raymond) and Dee Allen; grandchildren Jake Denny (Brittney), Taylor Frye (Daniel), Randy Frye, Trey Frye, Waylon Frye, and Wyatt Frye; great-grandchildren Malec, Renley, Ryler, Zeke, Penelope, Melody, and Lylah who is on the way.  Beak is also survived by brother John Allen, sister Patty Ash, and his beloved dog Camper.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Allen, and sister Mary Jane Waugh.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Samaritan Funeral Home.  Military Honors will be performed by American Legion Post 104 and service will begin at 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers donations in honor of Beak can be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society.  Online condolences may be made to www.samaritanfunerals.com.
