Donna Earleen Barbee aka "Pretty Barbee", 61, of Terre Haute passed away on May 21, 2024. She was a woman with a remarkable list of achievements, was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on September 5, 1962, to Wetonna Earleen (Brown) Stephens and Amos Stephens Sr.
Donna was a graduate of Terre Haute North Vigo High School in 1980.
Donna accepted Christ at a very early age and became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Donna held a deep love for God and it reflected in how she treated others.
Her memory is cherished by her devoted husband, Hulett Deon Barbee (her King), and their children: Larry Hatfield Jr. (Lindsey Swan), Deonna Barbee, Jermarh (Nikki) Barbee, Deon (Danielle) Barbee, and Jalisa Russell. She is also survived by her beloved grandmother Mattie Bankston, her sisters, Phyllis (LaVaunt) Smith, Stephanie Stephens (Gerald Allen) and Danielle Barnhill, her brothers, Amos (Tess) Stephens Jr., Rodney (Angie) Stephens. Additionally, Donna leaves behind a legacy through her grandchildren: Zayda Hatfield, Malachi Hatfield, Zoriah Hatfield, Sire Hatfield, Z'mya Hatfield, Zayla Hatfield, Giselle Rodriguez, Jermarh Barbee Jr, Niomi Barbee, Ethan Barbee, Asyria Barbee, Alizan Barbee, Azarian Barbee, Amir Barbee, Zion Spencer, and Ky'Reem Barbee. She is also remembered by her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Donna's passing has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Wetonna and Amos Stephens Sr., her brother Shawn Stephens Sr., and her granddaughter Zambri Hatfield. Donna's presence is deeply missed by all who were touched by her love and kindness.
Donna's Remarkable Dedication and Positive Influence was felt by all.
Donna commenced her professional journey in the restaurant industry at the age of sixteen; later transitioning to the factory sector. Subsequently, she found her true calling in the retail realm, particularly at TJ Maxx, where she devoted her efforts until her passing. Renowned for her vibrant personality, Donna illuminated the lives of those around her with her affectionate embraces and kind sentiments.
Her infectious laughter and talent for making others feel cherished rendered her truly extraordinary. Donna frequently shared encouraging messages such as "Have a blessed day" and "Today is a Good Day to Have a Great Day," sending out uplifting reminders to her loved ones at the onset of each month. In addition to her kindness, Donna offered comfort and positivity to those within her circle. Her thoughtful gestures, including personalized Christmas gifts, epitomized her empathetic nature. With her beaming smile, infectious laughter, and inclusive demeanor, Donna ensured that everyone in her presence felt valued and respected.
Service will be Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Allen Chapel AME located at 218 Crawford Street, Terre Haute. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Cremation has been entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home.
