Obituary

Doris Cooper Boyer died peacefully on October 26, 2025 while receiving outstanding care at The Commons at Honey Creek in Terre Haute, Indiana.  Doris was born July 14, 1935 to Ester Mabel Wibbeler and Forest Silas Cooper.  She grew up in Dale, Indiana with her siblings: Brian Cooper, Vivian Tozer, Elmer Cooper, and Mary Schum – all deceased.  Doris graduated from Dale High School in 1953.  She had been an ACES cheerleader and their class Secretary.

She married Jack Lewis Boyer (deceased) and had three children: Michael Ray Boyer (deceased), Nancy Ann Boyer, and Sarah Boyer Heath.  She managed the family, and many different households – due to Jack's career with IBM.  She prepared for all the family travels (camping, fishing, sightseeing) throughout the USA in nearly all of the National Parks.  She traveled to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and saw the 1964/1965 World's Fair in New York City.

Doris enjoyed the sweet things in life, especially: banana ice cream, coconut cake, and pineapple milkshakes.  She was an excellent bowler and loved games of all varieties (euchre, Password, puzzles, etc.).  She was especially lucky with casino slot machines and playing Bingo!

Doris worked for Old National Bank as a teller for twelve years in Booneville, Indiana.  She was requested by many of her customers due to her accuracy and personal service.  She was known throughout her life for her talent with plants, stitch work, strength, and wit.

She was survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Cremation has been entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be made at www.samaritanfunerals.com
