Dorothy Jean Miller was a dreamer. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 13, 2026, in Terre Haute, Indiana doing just that.

Dorothy was born on December 16, 1937, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Nora Letitia Roach, and Frank J Smith, and was the youngest of their seven children. She attended primary school at St. Margaret Mary and secondary at Gerstmeyer High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents; sisters, Mary, Helen, Irene, and Ruth; and brothers, Francis, Dutch, and Tom.

Dorothy was a free spirit, an entrepreneur, a rebel and an architect of elaborate plans. She was stubborn, loving, opinionated, and incredibly giving. She could play the piano like Joplin, dance the Jitterbug with the best, and run the table at yahtzee. Affectionately known as GiGi, Grandma Dot, aunt Dot, and sometimes just Dot; the life she lived and the legacy she leaves on the world is as unique and diverse as she was.

That legacy lives on through her children, Buddy Miller, Sheri Bandy, and Chad Miller; her grandchildren, Naomi Linker, Francis Miller, Norah Miller, and Cassandra Miller; her great-grandson, Cooper Linker; and many nieces and nephews.

Although she was conservative with her words of affection, she doted on her family to anyone and everyone that would listen; that love always reached its intended recipient, however surreptitiously.

May those she leaves behind remember her tenacity when the weight of the world feels too heavy to bear and carry her love with them as they follow their own dreams...
