Dorothy Lois Smith, 95, of Terre Haute passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022. She was born March 23, 1927 in Fontanet, Indiana to Willie Thomas and Cora Nevins Thomas.  Dorothy was an active member of the Centenary United Methodist Church for many years.  She was involved in the church choir and the Purdue Extension Choral Group.  Dorothy was a talented tap dancer, dancing well into her 80's.  She enjoyed reading, cooking, and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Steve Smith (Jan), Randy Smith (Marsha England), and Jerry Smith (Denise), grandchildren Matt Smith (Megan), Kyle Smith, Jeff Smith (Rachel), Eric Smith (Sara Meyers), Lauren and Catherine Jarrett, A.J. Nicoson (Mike), and Lynsee Smith; great-grandchildren Harvey, Louie, Bowen, Lena, Ella, Emma, and Max.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles O. Smith who passed away in 2016, brothers, William Thomas and Elmo Thomas; sisters, Vada Devers, Ruth Meneeley, and Francis Rogers.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Samaritan Funeral Home located at 2425 Wabash Avenue from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Pastor Clark Cowden will officiate.  Burial will follow at Highland Lawn Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made to www.samaritanfunerals.com.
