Dr. Thomas Craig Buchanan, MD, 65, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday April 17, 2018 at 3:30 pm at Terre Haute Nursing and Rehabilitation. Dr. Buchanan was an orthopedic surgeon and former Chief of Surgery at Union Hospital. He was born June 26, 1952 in Manhattan, New York City, NY to William Buchanan and Myra (Short) Buchanan. He is survived by his wife, Michelle (McConkey) Buchanan; daughter, Victoria Lynn Buchanan; son, Craig Thomas Buchanan; brother, Douglas Buchanan, Esq. (Mary O'Connor Buchanan); niece, Caitlin Mary Buchanan; nephew, Connor Buchanan and his son Declan Buchanan; nieces and nephews from Denver, CO, Lauren Posey, Max Posey, USMC, Connor Posey, Samantha Posey, Alyssa Kalen, Allie Wheat, and many other nieces and nephews. Dr. Buchanan was very much a philanthropist, and would gladly help anyone, regardless of their ability to pay. He was also very innovative in bringing new techniques and systems to Terre Haute and teaching his colleagues in their use and he enjoyed collecting and building model cars.
