Duquata Rose
Rankin
July 4, 1954 – June 23, 2024
Duquata Rose Rankin, 69, of Terre Haute passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024. She was born July 4, 1954, in Brazil, Indiana to Edward and Elizabeth Lints.
Duquata enjoyed sewing, crafts, crocheting, and gardening. She also set up booths at local festivals throughout the year. Her favorite things to make were sock monkeys and cornhole bags.
She loved Elvis, the Beatles, Country Music, and Praise and worship songs. She and her sister loved buying things for and decorating the yard. Duqauata also loved decorating for the holidays, but her favorite was handing out candy on Halloween. She loved her dogs and would spend many hours rocking in her chair petting them. The older and grumpier the dog, the more she loved it. Duquata was a very loving, caring and dependable lady. If you needed help, she was there, day or night. Some days her house was like the island of misfit toys, and she didn't turn away anyone that needed help.
Duquata was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samual Rankin, her parents, son Chad Gehle, and brothers Allen Lints and Calvin Lints. She is survived by her children, Shawn Marcum (Angie), Carla Jarrett (Billroy), Nicolette Sickles, (Kenny), Billy Gehle, and, Mandy Blakely; grandchildren, Jade Gray (Lucas), Brittany Sickles (Miles), Rebecca Sickles (Blake), Rachel Sickles (Zach), Ana Gosnell (Austin), Kathlyn Ocana (Paulo), Allison Sickles, Billy Gehle, Brooke Gehle, Taylor Jarret, and Travis Jarrett (Breanna); several great grandkids whom she loved spending time with; sister Bernice Headley, niece Mary Sanders (Tommy), great niece Lindsey Sanders, and great nephew William Sanders;
plus lots of kids that came to call her mom throughout the years.
Cremation was entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Staunton Community Center located at 103 E. Columbus Street, Staunton, Indiana 47881, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
