Earlene L. "Earl" Lanning, 69, of Terre Haute passed away Monday September 5, 2022 in IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born June 4, 1953 in Salina, Kansas to Earl and Hazel (Fields) Byerley. Earlene is survived by her husband, John Lanning; sons, Kevin Byerley (Carrie), Scott Lanning (Courtney), and Chris Lanning (Amber); step-daughter, Joanie Lanning; brother, Earl Andrew "Andy" Byerley II; grandchildren, William Byerley, Breanna Byerley, Sierra Hoke, Taryn Lanning, Sage Lanning, Jaelyn Lanning, Jassmine Lanning, Shane-Lynn Carney; step-grandchildren, Riley Kiefling, Triston Smith, and Michael Stewart; five great-grandchildren, with two on the way, and two "fur babies", Chipper and Chance. Earlene enjoyed fishing, watching the hummingbirds and the flowers in her yard. She liked to play cards, especially canasta. She had a love for Elvis and she loved having her family around and loved to argue with the grandkids that she loved them more. Samaritan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
