Elton Dale
Snodgrass
January 3, 1922 – July 5, 2018
Elton Dale Snodgrass 96 of Terre Haute passed away July 5, 2018 at home from a short
illness from his heart. Dale was owner of Snodgrass Sales Inc and Retail Store in
Twelve Points. He was also co-owner of the Hacienda Motel and Restaurant in the
60's.
He was born Jan. 3, 1922 in Colfax Illinois to Marie and Roy Snodgrass both deceased as his is wife of 60 years Mary Elizabeth Snodgrass.
He is survived by his only daughter Marsha Kaye Snodgrass whom he lived with for the past 21 years in her home. Also surviving is a sister Doris Chenhall in Ohio and 3 nephews.
After graduation from Otter Creek High School, he joined the Navy and served in WWII and Korean War. In 1943 he was an Aviation Ordnance Man 2nd class, and a turret gunner on a Grumman TBF-1 Avenger torpedo plane in Torpedo Squadron Twenty-Two (VT-22) on sea duty aboard the USS Independence. Dale loved to dance the jitterbug and was his nickname in the Navy. There is a wonderful article written about Dale

He also loved to Puzzle and beat Marsha at Gin Rummy and Monopoly. Dale used to be an avid bowler and was a member of the Terre Haute Bowler's Hall of Fame. He sponsored many bowling leagues and teams.
He was a member of the VFW Post 972, American Legion Wayne Newton Post 346, Life Member of the Zorah Shriners of Terre Haute, and a Life Member of Scottish Rite Valley as a 32nd Mason, F& AM Social Lodge #86 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
Per his wishes cremation was chosen as he was adamant in requesting no service or memorial be held. Dale wanted you to remember him the way he was if he touched your life in any way and to always remember Think Positive.
