Fredrick “Fred” E. Phelps, 69, of Terre Haute passed away Monday September 28, 2026. He was born October 29, 1956 in Terre Haute to James L. and Betty Jean (Brown) Phelps. Fred is survived by his daughter, Christina Hotovec; three sons; log time partner, Sherri Stockwell; sister, Tina McElfresh (Steve O’Rourke); grandchildren, Aiden Hotovec, Mikai Hotovec, Rylan Hotovec, Elizabeth Tonsberg and Donovan Tonsberg and nieces, Jamie Brazier and Dawn Welty. He was preceded in death by his father James Phelps; mother, Betty Jean Yakel; sister, Deborah Boswell and brothers, James Phelps and Allen Phelps. Fred worked as a carpenter most of his life and he had changed his life and was a good man. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
