Gary Lee Alkire, aka Mister, 73, of Terre Haute ceased on May 29,2024. He was born to Mary Rose Fagg Alkire and Clarence Arthur Alkire on June 7, 1950, in Terre Haute.
Mister graduated from Garfield High School in 1968, going on to enlist in the US Army soon after. Upon an honorable discharge, two Purple Hearts, and a Silver Star he began his career at the USPS. First as a clerk then a Letter Carrier. He retired from service in October of 2005. Mister survived the perils of the Vietnam War and a Fifty-one-year marriage.
Mister is survived by said marriage peril and co-survivor of Fifty-one-year marriage, Nancy Rowe Alkire, four wonderful daughters, Angi Labor (Hans), Erin Alkire, Kristin Alkire, Ryan Alkire; nine most amazing grandchildren, Wesley Lewis and fiancé (Mackenzie Roth), Karley Lewis, Austin Lewis, Evan Greve (Audrey Henderson), Olivia Greve, Kaden (Keiona) Alkire, Maeve Bolin, James and Jakeb Pirkle; four of the most darling great grandchildren, Easton Lewis, Addison Lewis, Lainey Lewis, Letty Pirkle; one brother Dan (Millie) Alkire and one sister Karen( Tim) Craft. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Janet Godden.
