Gary W. Matherly, 70, passed away August 24, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born on April 13, 1953 in Terre Haute to Leonard Matherly and Nellie (Griffin) Matherly. He worked for Gartland for 25 years, and then worked for Terminix for 10 years from which he retired. He loved spending time with family. He also loved gardening and fishing, and he enjoyed coaching little league baseball.

He is survived by his life partner Christie Milligan, ex-wife Donna Chatman, sons Kyle Matherly (Leslie) and Eric Matherly (Jennifer), stepdaughter Tina Brooker, brothers Leonard Matherly (Vicki) and Ron Matherly (Brenda), sister Darlene Knopp (Ron), grandchildren, David Knight, Ashton (Corey), Logan, Grace, Luke, and Faith Matherly; and great-grandson Matthew Knight. He is preceded in death by both parents and brother Rick Matherly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 27, 2023 from 2 pm to 4 pm at Samaritan Funeral Home with Sharing of Memories at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Terre Haute North Little League in his honor. Online condolences may be made at www.samaritanfunerals.com.
