Geraldine Shanks, 87, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday March 23, 2017 in Signature Healthcare. She worked for 25 years at Quaker Maid and retired in 1996 from Union Hospital. Geraldine was born August 27, 1929 in Martinsville, IL to Lester Shanks and Edna May (Barr) Shanks. She is survived by nieces, Susann Shanks and fiancé David Stewart and Cathy Gilbert and husband Bill; a nephew, Richard Shanks a brother, Clifford Shanks; a step-sister, Juanita McNary; great nieces, Stacie Guthrie, Mindy Guthrie, Hannah Bullard, and Courtney Bullard; great nephews, Floyd Brock, Jr., and Dakota Brock and a great great nephew, Dalton Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and his wife Lowell and Marie Shanks; a step-sister, Marjorie Ulrey and three nephews, Dewey Brock, Floyd Brock, and Everett Brock. Visitation will be Tuesday March 28, 2017 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in Samaritan Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial contributions can be made to either Riley Children's Hospital or the Shriners Children's Hospital.
