Grace Lorraine Ellington, 88, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022.  She was born May 31, 1933 in Columbus, Missouri to Henry and Robbie Martin.  Grace became a Christian at a young age.  She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice.  Grace was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a choir leader when her husband was a minister in Washington, Indiana.  Grace enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, and cooking.  She and Oliver spent many joyous hours of Bible study together.  Grace was a natural caregiver and her home was always open to anyone that needed her.  She loved to shop and was a VIP at the Goodwill.  Most of all she loved to spend time with her family.  The children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her so much happiness.

Grace is survived by her sons, Oliver Lee Ellington III, D'wan Tyrone Ellington Sr., Venoit Lamont Ellington (Tammi), Pat'Rice Ellington Sr. (Shakeilia), Bryant Keith Ellington Sr., Shawn Andre Ellington, and Ian La'Marr Ellington (Crystal); daughters Linda Marie Booker (Charles) and Rhonda Renée Woods (Howard), fifty-three grandchildren, ninety-nine great-grandchildren,  sixteen great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Oliver Lee Ellington, Jr. and five brothers and six sisters.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Allen Chapel AME Church located at 218 Crawford Street, Terre Haute from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.  Service will begin at 2:00 p.m.  Pastor Tess Stephens and Evangelist Amos Stephens will officiate.  A special thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice and Meadows Manor North for the phenomenal care they provided.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Allen Chapel at https://giv.li/u4w53c.  Online condolences may be made to www.samaritanfunerals.com.
