Iris Eileen (Orndorff) Smith age 79 of Terre Haute Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. She was born on December 16th, 1946 to Clyde Orndorff and Eva Niccum Orndorff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers; Max Orndorff, Raymond Orndorff, Chester Green, Walter Green, Arthur Orndorff, Stanley Orndorff and Garald Orndorff, 3 sisters; Wilma Dably, Wanda Harring and Sharon Bailey.

Surviving, are her children; Shannon Akers and husband Chris, Scott Smith and wife Tabby, Steve Smith and wife Glenda, stepdaughter, Marsha Doan and her husband, Brad, 2 sisters; Linda Powers and Shirley Mills.

6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 11 step-grands. And her dear friend since grade school, Suzanne Soules.

Iris was a longtime employee of the Pillsbury company in Seelyville, Indiana, where she made lifelong friends. She was an assembler until the day the plant closed its doors in 1995. After that, she worked at TRW Automotive in Marshall, Illinois where she finished out her working years until retirement.

Iris was a hard-working woman and put just as much work and energy into her family. Her grandkids filled her days and her heart with an abundance of love.

Mom definitely left an impression on each one of us and we will miss her deeply.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at DeBaun Springhill Chapel.  Services will begin at 2:00pm.
