James E. (Jim) Simpson Sr. was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on February 28, 1937 to the late Stephen and Ideal (Harris) Simpson. He departed this earthly life on November 8, at his home in Indianapolis. He was a life-long member of the      Seventh Day Adventist Church family.

In 1956 he was united in marriage to the late DeLores Marie Tyler, and to that union was born 4 children. Jim was the proud father of James Jr, Angela, Myles, and Wayne.  He was also a very proud grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather, as well as a beloved brother, uncle, and cousin.

He was loved and respected by all, and was known and admired for his quiet, unassuming demeanor and incredible  patience.

He worked for the Veterans Administration for 30+ years, retiring in the early 90's.  He enjoyed basketball, was a big   Indiana Pacers fan, and also enjoyed watching westerns.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory - his 4 children, his beloved sister, Helen Simpson of Terre Haute, and his devoted brother-in-law and childhood friend, Bertie Tyler of Terre Haute. Also mourning his loss are his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.  He also has several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers.

Visitation will be Tuesday November 15, 2022 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in Samaritan Funeral Home with funeral services starting at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Stewart Lawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.samaritanfunerals.com
