January 7, 1938 – March 21, 2020
Jan Schnurpel went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 21st, 2020. She was born January 7, 1938, in Terre Haute, the daughter of Russell and Juanita Weeks. She graduated from Wiley High Class of 1956.
Jan retired from the Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute after 34 years. She often commented she had the best job ever after retiring. She enjoyed volunterring at the Helping Hand in West Terre Haute, doing back packs for Davis Park School, and wore many hats at the Northside United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed visiting the sick at the hospital and nursing homes, and shut-ins. she also volunteered for many years for Habitat for Humanity.
Family left behind include her dear husband Jim; two daughters, Peggy Wiggins (Larry) and Penny Campbell (Kenny), grandchildren, Chris Wiggins (Amy), Kayla Hoesman (Austin), Jordan and Luke Schoffstall, Mandy Lynch (Josh), sister, Kay Stephens, brother, Don Kiger, sisters-in-laws, Jane Weeks and Karen Weeks; great grandchildren, Evelyn Wiggins, Dominic and Theodore Hoesman, Lexton and Lochlin Lynch, and many special nieces and nephews, several step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Jan was preceded in death by her former husband, Gene Grizzle, daughter, Donna Cchoffstall, sister, Pat Keegan, brother-in-law, Bob Stephens, brothers, Robert and Ralph Weeks and her parents.
Jan was a member of Northside United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star #43, F.F.W. Auxiliary #972, American Legion Auxiliary #346 and active many years with the El Shaddai Emmaus Community.
Visitation will be 4-7pm on Tuesday, March 24th with a Order of Eastern Star #43 service at 7:00 pm. Services will follow the EOS. Reverend Clark Cowden will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Davis Park School Back Pack program. Online condolences may be left at www.samaritanfunerals.com
