Jeffrey Allen
Scully
January 29, 1961 – March 5, 2026
Jeffrey Allen Scully, age 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 5, 2026. Jeff was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last November and fought a courageous battle until the end. Jeff was surrounded by his family during his last days.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Mary Lou Scully Newman and Stanley Scully.
Jeff is survived by his daughter, Caitlin Scully Head (Alec) of Florence, TX; sister Jeanine Utterback (David); sister JoAnna Gonzales (Ray); nephew Caleb Utterback (Brooke), nephew Eliot Utterback (Stephanie); niece Lucy Utterback (Addison Wall); niece RaeAnna Gonzales (Cristian Medina). Also, several great nieces and a great nephew including: Emelynn, Harrison, and Mavery Utterback and Josie, Jemma, and Junianne Utterback all of Terre Haute, IN.
Jeff moved to Austin, TX, in 1982, and worked as a Computer Production Tech at IBM computers for 15 years. He then worked and retired from DELL computers in Austin, TX, where he was the Senior Escalation Specialist. He traveled to Terre Haute every October to visit the Covered Bridge Festival. For several years, Jeff looked forward to working the South by Southwest (SXSW) music festivals in Austin, TX, as event staff and security. Jeff moved back to Terre Haute in 2015. He was a passionate volunteer for the Habitat for Humanity Restore for ten years. Jeff was recognized several times as the "Habitat for Humanity Volunteer of the Year."
Jeff had many hobbies including: refurbishing computers, traveling, collecting vintage items, playing Texas Hold 'em, and cooking. He won the Austin, TX, Chili Cook-Off three years in a row. He said that his secret was venison. Jeff always enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.
He and his father, Stan, were avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fans.
Jeff's legacy will carry on in the many lives he touched. If you had the pleasure of knowing Jeff, you had a story about Jeff. "Ya know what I mean?" His thoughtful gift-giving, hilarious stories, infectious laugh, caring and loving spirit, and generosity will live in our hearts forever.
Jeff's memorial service will be private for immediate family.
