John
Rodgers
September 27, 1951 – December 17, 2022
John Rodgers sadly passed on December 17th. John was an amazing Husband, Father, Papa and friend to all. John was born in Knightsville, where he was proud to be a part of the Knightsville gang; a group of friends he would still enjoy having breakfast with all these years later. John was the son of Raymond Rodgers and Juanita Elwell, and brother to Celeste Phillips. John retired several year ago from Great Dane, where he made many friends in his 40+ years there.
John was an incredibly talented artist, who shared his work with so many in the community. John and his artwork has been featured in many magazines and television programs. These features included his long run of making different art pieces for many of the Channel 10 news crew, Country Music Magazine and his favorite, Sammy Terry. John had a passion for racing and has attended the Indy 500 since the late 60's, as well as working security in the pit areas. John made bobble heads and painted bottle caps for many of the drivers. John also loved the original Universal Monsters. He collected masks, toys and memorabilia and this was the decor of his beloved art room.
John had an incredible sense of humor. He loved watching Abbott & Costello, The Three Stooges and Benny Hill. This influenced his plethora of "Dad jokes", even before it was a thing. These jokes would make everyone around him laugh, but he would also crack himself up into a silent, jiggle laughter that was so infectious.
John will be loved and missed by many, particularly his wife Kim, children Andrea and Brad, his son-in-law Anthony, daughter-in-law Jess, and grandchildren, Chloe, Bryce, Kaden and Ava.
There will be a celebration of life this May, during race season. If you would like to attend, please email ahapenny@comcast.net for more information.
