Obituary

John C. Story I, 59, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday July 8, 2026 at Gibson Family Hospice Center. He was born October 13, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois. John is survived by his wife, Tina Davis-Story: daughter, Destiny: sons, Shawn (Chelsea), John II, and Sterling Thomas Story: father, Louis McCaskill: mother-in-law: Emma Davis: special aunt: Patricia Dowd: sisters: Denyne Banks, Patrice Peeler, and Domonique (Ronald) Anderson; sisters-in-love: Marilyn Johnson & Patricia Davis: Special cousin: Tillmon Dowd Jr.: Grandchildren: Ayanna, Brandon, Brian, MacKenzie, John III, Kyson, Kaleah, Weston, Kobe and Krew. John was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandmother: Annie Mae Davis, mother: Sharon McCaskill: sister: Tracy Story, brother: Clarence Bibbins: Special cousin: Terrence Dowd & Father-in-law: Thomas Davis: Special Friend's: The Action Crew. John was a Behavior Specialist with Covered Bridge Special Education District. John was a track and football coach he loved coaching and working with the youth in the community. From 1984-1986 John was a 3-time consecutive IHSAA state champion in the 200M Dash at Gary Roosevelt High School. John was voted Gatorade Athlete of the Year, John was a Track and Field All-American at Indiana State University, a member of the Indians track & Field Hall of Fame Museum. He was also a Free Agent with the Denver Broncos in 1991. Visitation will be Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 10:00-12:00 pm location Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2367 7th Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47803. Followed by Funeral services starting at 12:00 pm.
