Johnathon "Lamont" Johnson, 58, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. He was born on September 23, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois to Johnnie Lee Johnson and Helen (Purnell) Johson. Lamont was a graduate of Terre Haute North High School. He was baptized under the late Bishop Jester Purnell. Lamont attended the City Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Lamont enjoyed music and lifting weights. Spending time with his beloved family, friends, and his dogs brought him so much joy. He will be lovingly missed by so many.
Lamont is survived by his parents Johnnie Lee and Helen Johnson, his wife of nearly 24 years, Angela Zehr Johnson, sister Charnell (Robert) Mayes, sisters in law Lawry (Charlie) Mayton, Niki (Bobby) Miller, in laws Jerold and Ann Zehr, nieces and nephews Cherrelle, Charnell, Antonio, Ka'Neesha, La'Resha, Sidney, David, Angelo, and Sanai, as well as uncles, aunts and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his uncle Bishop Jester Purnell, brother Larry Purnell, sister Lisa Purnell Moore, and great niece Tamiya O'Quinn.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Samaritan Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop J. Glenn Purnell and Apostle Alvin Dennis, Senior Pastor of Freshwind Apostolic Ministries of Lincoln Nebraska. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
