Joseph Franklyn Brooks, 45 of Indianapolis and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 in Plainfield, IN. He was born in Terre Haute on November 25, 1970 to Robert Joe Brooks and Candace (Harris) Brooks. Joe was a 1989 graduate of Terre Haute South High School, a member of William Penn Masonic Lodge # 727 F & AM, and most recently worked as a forklift operator for Willoughby Industries. He is survived by two daughters, Amanda Nicole Brooks and Amber Dawn Brooks, his mother, Candace Maureen Scamihorn, and step-father John Scamihorn (wife Sandy). Also surviving is his brother David Scamihorn, and sister, Jessica Scamihorn (fiancAC. Jeff Purdy), as well as two step-brothers, Matt Scamihorn (wife Elizabeth) and Jay Scamihorn (wife Janice). Other survivors include an uncle, Steven Harris, and a niece, Emily Purdy. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Joe Brooks, and a brother, Michael Brooks. Funeral services will be held at Samaritan Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2016, with Pastor Kyle Andrews officiating. Burial will follow at Farmersburg Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Samaritan Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to his daughters, through Samaritan Funeral Home, to help with funeral expenses.
