Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Lee Hixon, 57, passed away on February 17, 2024. He was born on January 27, 1967 in Clinton to Richard D. Hixon and Jo Anne (Swinford) Hixon. He was a 1986 graduate of Rosedale High School, and a Past Master Counselor of the JN Frist Chapter, Order of DeMolay in Clinton, IN. Joe spent 3 years in the US Army in Germany and finished his career in the US Army National Guard with Co. B, 38th MSB of the 38th Infantry Division in Brazil, IN. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Clinton, IN, member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 887 in Clinton, IN, and Vice President of the Wabash Valley Fishing Club.


He is survived by his mother, daughter Shasta Hixon of Wisconsin, son Dylan Hixon of Brazil, grandsons Brantly Hixon and Tyler Hixon, brothers Mike Hixon (Vicky) of Terre Haute and Don Hixon (Lisa) of Lewis, sisters Kelly Hixon of Clinton and Mika Jo Yocum of Seelyville, great-aunt Marcella Foncannon of Fairview, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.


He is preceded in death by his father, grandparents John and Norma Swinford, brother James Hixon, and brother-in-law James Trout.


Joe loved spending time with his family and friends, and he enjoyed spending time outdoors around the lake with his dogs. He was a loving and loved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be loved and missed always.


A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the humane shelter in Joe's honor. Online condolences can be made at www.samaritanfunerals.com.
