Karen Sue
Hall
July 1, 1948 – July 22, 2025
Karen Sue Hall, 77, passed away on July 22, 2025 in Greencastle, Indiana. She was born July 1, 1948 in Mattoon, Illinois to parents Harry and Martha (Hampton) Hamilton.
Karen was a graduate of Neoga High School and Lakeland College. She worked at GE, Coles County Housing Authority, and Moultrie County Beacon. She was an avid reader, crafter, and rock hound. Karen also loved animals, especially cats, and the Friends of Felines Rescue Center cat cam was a comfort when she moved to skilled nursing care.
Karen attended services at Penn Station's cowboy church in Arthur, Illinois. She found joy and solace in the music of the band, and really missed them after moving to Indiana.
Karen faced many serious health challenges but never lost her sense of humor. She was trying to plan how to get her wheelchair into the woods for one last mushroom hunting trip.
She is survived by her daughter Michelle (Tim) Nolen of Sullivan, Illinois, her daughter Selena (Scott) Withrow of Greencastle, Indiana, her grandson Will Nolen of Norwalk, Connecticut, her grandson Michael Nolen of Sullivan, Illinois, and her sister Cathy (John) Hall of Mattoon, Illinois. She also leaves behind Darcy Leslie of Terre Haute, Indiana, who was like a daughter to her, and her beloved cat Megan of Sullivan, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Asbury Towers Retirement Community and Southern Care Hospice for not only their dedicated care of Karen, but for loving her as well. Your care and compassion was truly felt by us, and we know Mom loved you as well.
Cremation has been entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at http://www.samaritanfunerals.com.
