Linda Darlene
Pickell
January 10, 1952 – February 4, 2026
Linda Darlene Pickell passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 4th 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion to God, family and friends. Linda was born on January 10, 1952 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. She spent most of her childhood in Las Vegas, Nevada, briefly lived in the Bahamas with her mother and her step-father Jack Selby, then moved back to Indiana where she attended high school at Garfield and Wiley, married and had children with her first husband, Jerry Hawker.
Linda had such a light and purity in her heart with a wonderful personality that she inspired friendliness in others. This was especially evident in her interactions as a Cashier and Customer Service Representative from 1977-1999 at Great Scot Supermarket. Linda had such a genuine warmth and ability to connect with people that it left a lasting impression on the community, earning her recognition for her popularity and charisma with a front-page article of the local Terre Haute Tribune Star newspaper.
Her life was rooted in Christianity and she had a profound love for Jesus Christ, whom she called Yeshua. She loved and cherished her family, friends, her cat Mia Amore, whom she bottle-fed from just days old. Linda enjoyed spending time with friends & family, vacationing to Florida & Tennessee, cooking, wildlife, television, looking at family photos and taking classes at Ivy Tech.
Linda Pickell was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur C. and Anna Lee Hoesman, step father, Jack Selby and husband, Fred Pickell.
She is survived by her sons, Steven Hawker, Brian Hawker, daughter-in-law, Sophia Hawker, grandchildren Brandon and Tiffany Hawker, grandchildren-in law Amanda Schmitten and Jacob Catalan, along with many special friends.
