Obituary

Linda Beth Rockwood passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Gibson Family Hospice Center, surrounded by family and friends. She was welcomed into Heaven and into the presence of Jesus.

Born on September 23, 1952, in Terre Haute, Indiana, she was the daughter of James and Margaret (Wells) Rockwood. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara. She is survived by her son, Seth; her granddaughter, Finley; her sister, Carol; her brother, Richard; and many beloved friends, cousins, and nephews.

After graduating from Gerstmeyer High School, Linda earned a degree in social work at Indiana State University. Throughout her career, she served in a variety of roles with companies including Pitman-Moore, Pfizer, AFT, and Open-Door Christian Bookstore. Most recently, she worked at Elanco as a purchasing agent and administrative assistant.

Her family and friends knew her for her peaceful nature and independence, but most of all for her compassionate spirit. She found great joy in caring for others and bringing happiness to those around her. An exceptional grandmother, she cherished every moment with her granddaughter, from weekly swimming or dance classes to attending church together on Sundays.

Linda was a natural planner, from her beautiful landscaping to coordinating company projects and gatherings. A love of travel led her to explore the world, forming many lifelong friendships along the way. She also had a deep interest in genealogy and took great pride in documenting her family's history. She enjoyed sharing stories about the Rockwood farm, formerly located on Margaret Avenue, where the Rockwood Bar and Grill now stands. The historical photos displayed there were especially meaningful to her.

A lifelong member of Union Christian Church, where she first attended as a child, she remained active throughout the years, supporting Sunday school, the nursery, and many group activities. Most recently, she participated in the Thursday Women's Life Group, where she was sincerely dedicated to the friendships she formed.

Services will be held at Union Christian Church on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Mark Stair and Pastor Mark Grayless officiating.

A private burial will be held with the family.

Cremation was entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at samaritanfunerals.com
