Obituary

Marlene Elfrieda Deerwester, 80, passed away on December 2, 2019 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.  She was born in Buckley, IL on June 5, 1939 to John H Rust and Frieda (Kottke) Rust.  Marlene was the youngest of eight.  She is survived by her daughter Angela Fields (Ronnie Deetz); four Grandchildren, Duane, Aaron, Logan, and Daniel; two brothers; one sister; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 972, where she served as their president for many years.  Marlene was very devoted to The Ladies Auxiliary. She retired from First Financial Bank in 2017.  She had a zest for life and loved her family and friends so much; she was also such a caring person, and will certainly be missed.  A visitation for Marlene will be held at Samaritan Funeral Home on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm with a VFW Ladies Auxiliary memorial service at 10:45 am in the funeral home. Funeral services will be Monday December 8, 2019 at 10:00 am (CST) in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 302 N. 4th St. Cissna Park, IL. Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. There will be a family gathering at 12 noon at the 103 Lounge in Buckley, IL. Refreshments available for purchase.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
