Mary Christie Jackson of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on December 16th 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. Christie was born September 10th, 1947 to Eileen and Earl Vail. She is preceded in death by; her parents; brother James (Bussy) Vail, whom she adored; Aunt, Ella Belle Calvin; and Cousin, Oliver Yates. Christie was born, raised, and resided in Chicago until 2013, when she moved to Terre Haute to be close to her family. She cared for her brother Bussy for many years until he passed away December 16, 2018. She was a waitress her entire career. She loved being a waitress and was successful because of her infectious personality and her love of helping people. She retired in 2012 with many stories to tell and life long friends. Her smile would light up the room and her laugh could be heard from anywhere. She loved Blues and Motown music, dancing, and spending time with her family. She was adventurous, spontaneous, and always dressed to the nines. She never knew a stranger. She was a huge animal lover. Christie was a resident at Anthony Square where she had many friends who loved her and her cat Gypsy Rose. Christie will be forever missed! Christie is survived by; daughter, Robin Yates Lenhart (Karl Lenhart) of Terre Haute; granddaughter, Marissa Yates Snyder (John Snyder) of Terre Haute; Great grand children Rigley Irby and Hudson Snyder; cousins Katie Forsythe (Jack Forsythe) of Terre Haute, and many extended family members. A celebration of her life will be held for family and close friends.
