Montgomery
January 16, 1944 – February 21, 2020
Pastor John D. Montgomery, age 76, passed to his eternal home on February 21, 2020 at Union Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born January 16, 1944 in Louisiana to the late John D. and Betty Montgomery. His father that loved and raised him was Chester Neal. He married the love of his life Colleen Daniels in 1977. Surviving are four children, Amanda Sargernt (Steven), Wendy Lamparelli (Frank), Colleen Smolenski (Larry) and the late David P. Daniels (Terry.) They also had one foster daughter Janet Blankenship (Greg). He was proud of his six grandchildren Abbi Lamparelli, Emma Lamparelli, Shawn Daniels (Shannon), Caitlin Kuentzel (Brad), David Smolenski (Amy), Christy Smolenski. These grandchildren gifted John with four great-grandchildren, Aedan Daniels, Connor Daniels, Clark Kuentzel, and Slater Daniels. John was an extraordinary man that loved everyone. John loved the Lord Jesus Christ and all he wanted out of life was to see others come to the saving knowledge of the Lord. He spent years as a Prison Chaplain in Pennsylvania and had the privilege of ministering in four churches in Indiana. He loved studying the Bible and working with wood, making many beautiful benches and other wood items. Surviving are four brothers and one sister Jeanine Bracco (Robert) of Sammanish, WA., Robin Neal (Cindy), Gregory Neal (Lee) of Mt Sterling, KY, Joel Neal (Joanne) of Sammanish, WA, Jeff Neal (Sharon) of Shohomanish, WA. He also left behind many nieces and nephews. He graduated Pine Knot High School, Pine Knot, KY. Later on earning his Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate from Master's Int'l School of Divinity. A memorial service will be held on April 4, 2020 at 6:00 PM with a dinner following at 7:00 PM. at First Southern Baptist Church, 1200 East Davis Rd. Terre Haute IN.
