Penny Sue Hetrick, 61, of Terre Haute passed away early Monday morning, after a weekend surrounded by her loving family.

The daughter of Janis and Jay Backenger, Penny was born and spent most of her life in Beloit, Wisconsin, where she lived with her four children in a home filled with the sounds of happy children and happy collies and pugs. Penny could make anything, from intricate Halloween costumes to websites. A fan of a good steak and the enchilada-like green chile casserole, Penny raised a family around making special food, even on ordinary days. She was a problem solver, a researcher, a believer, a dynamic personality. She will be greatly missed.

In more recent years, Penny moved to Terre Haute, Indiana, to be closer to her grandson, Adam. Penny is survived by her four children, Lisa Hetrick, Ashley Hetrick, Jenna Kai, and April Kai, as well as her grandson Adam Kai Burcham.
