Phillip H. Harris, age 72, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Phil was born February 7, 1954 at St. Anthony Hospital in Terre Haute. Phil was the son of William Gilbert Harris and Hilda Lorraine Melton. He attended Rosedale High School in the Class of 1973.
Phil will be remembered for his many talents involving hi mechanical and automotive capabilities. Phil was the "Jack-of-all-Trades" and everyone knew him for his can-do attitude.
His hobbies included his love for cars and he was a car racing enthusiast throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being surrounded by his beloved Boston Terriers. He took pride in his garden and yard care while watching his birds and squirrels feed.
His career involved the automotive industry for many years and he was currently employed by the Vigo County School Corporation as Custodian and Maintenance Worker at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Barbara Harris - they had recently celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on February 7th, which they also shared the same day of birth. He is also survived by a son, Phillip Elias Harris (Alesha) by his former wife, April Andrew Harris; his two grandsons, Phillip Wayne and Dominic Ray Harris; two step-children, Ryan Nolte (Cassie) of West Lafayette, Indiana and Amanda Higgins (Brent) of Terre Haute; sister, Antha E. Rickard; brother, Victor G. Harris; twin sisters, Carla D Frazier (Gregg) and Darla G. Harris; Paula Jackson (Steve) and Marta L. Harris.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Hospice of the Wabash Valley as well as the Gibson Family Center for Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution, in his honor, to your local humane society or dog rescue shelter would be appreciated.
At Phil's request, there will be no services. Cremation has been entrusted to Samaritan Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
